At the end of WW-II, five German U-boats ended up at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Portsmouth, NH). The U-505, captured at sea in 1944, eventually was towed to Chicago for exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. The U-234 reportedly was sunk by the U.S. Navy off Cape Cod in 1947. The fate of the others, I'm not sure of. They may have been broken up, but more likely they were sunk in deep water somewhere off Portsmouth. Researching the final disposition of these vessels would be a great project for some shipwreck buff. And someday let's hope we see the results of this research posted here on this message board.
